The prepositions in, on, and at are often confusing but follow specific rules.

Prepositions of Time

  • IN (Months, Years, Seasons, Long periods): in May, in 2023, in the morning.
  • ON (Days, Dates): on Monday, on July 4th, on my birthday.
  • AT (Specific Times): at 8 PM, at noon, at midnight.

Prepositions of Place

  • IN (Enclosed spaces/Areas): in a room, in London, in a box.
  • ON (Surfaces): on the table, on the wall, on the floor.
  • AT (Specific Points/Locations): at the bus stop, at the door, at home.
