Formation

Subject + have/has been + verb-ing

I have been studying for three hours.
She has been working here since 2020.
It has been raining all day.

When to Use

  • Focus on duration: How long have you been waiting?
  • Recent continuous actions with present results: You look tired. Have you been working out?

Present Perfect vs Continuous

Use simple present perfect for completed quantities ('I have read 3 books') and continuous for ongoing processes ('I have been reading a book').
